Commonwealth Games Selection Trials Following the recent Commonwealth Games selection trials, many HWC personnel were selected to represent Australia. Congratulations are extended to all these people and we wish them the best of luck in New Dehli. Commonwealth Games Selection Trials The selection trials for the 2010 Commonwealth Games were recently held in Chandler, Queensland. Videos of the competition can be found on the multimedia page. VWA Open & Masters Competition A VWA Open & Masters Competition was held at HWC on June 19. HWC was represented by one athlete, Stephen Helberg. In his forst competition for the club, Stephen lifted well, achieiving lifts of 63Kg in the Snatch and 81Kg in the Clean & Jerk for a 144Kg total. Well done Stephen! VWA Youth & Junior Championships June 5th brough with it the 2010 VWA Youth & Junior Championships. HWC was well represented, with 7 athletes taking part. Each athlete performed very well and their results were as follows: Wei-Jien Tan (69Kg category): 88Kg Snatch and 100Kg Clean & Jerk for a 188Kg Total and Victorian Junior Champion for 2010. Paulo Magistrado (85Kg category): 94Kg Snatch and 115Kg Clean & Jerk for a 209Kg Total and Victorian Junior Champion for 2010. James Parry (94Kg category): 96Kg Snatch & 120Kg Clean & Jerk for a 216Kg Total and Victorian Junior Champion for 2010. Julio Melo Junior (94Kg category): 55Kg Snatch and 80Kg Clean & Jerk for a 135Kg Total. Josh Quinn (105Kg category): 123Kg Snatch and 157Kg Clean & Jerk for a 280Kg Total and Victorian Junior Champion for 2010. Josh also broke his own HWC junior records in the 105Kg class. Daniel Butera (105Kg category): 84Kg Snatch and 96Kg Clean & Jerk for a 180Kg Total. Reachny Be (58Kg category): 49Kg Snatch and 59Kg Clean & Jerk for a 108Kg Total. Congratulations to these seven on their outstanding lifting and best of luck for future events. 2010 Oceania Championships The 2010 Oceania Championships were held in Suva, Fiji in the early parts of May, 2010. As always many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out, including our elite lifters who loaded for the day. Victorian Masters Championships and Open Competition The VWA Masters Championships and Open Competition was held on April 17, 2010. HWc was represented by three athletes: Paul Allen, Nick Milankovic and Julio Melo Junior. All three lifted very well, with both Nick and Paul winning VWA Masters titles in their respective age and weight categories. Paul achieved lifts of 62Kg and 85Kg, Nick 80Kg and 105Kg and Julio 63Kg and 72Kg. Congratulations to all on their fine performances.
